II.2.4) Description of the procurement:
Forestry England intend to re-tender a concession opportunity to operate our established bike hire and retail centre in Kielder Village in Q2/Q3 2024, due to expiry of the current lease at the end of December 2024. Our expectation is that we will issue a lease for ten years. The Kielder Bike Hire centre is well positioned to attract and provide services to customers enjoying: •the iconic Lakeside Way multiuser trail around Kielder Water •the extensive network of mountain bike trails •an emerging gravel route network •the Reivers cycle route (cross border) •and road and touring cycling across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. The Kielder area benefits from a popular sports events programme and there is scope to develop a range of guided or coached experiences from this location. Prospective suppliers are invited to express an interest in this opportunity and have a initial conversation with our Northumberland Recreation Manager ahead of the tender documents being published this Spring/early summer.
